Mark's expertise covers the areas of finance, economics, valuation and dispute resolution. He is qualified, and has practiced, in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. He has extensive experience in securities and business valuation, damage quantification, financial investigation and complex litigation and is recognized by the Academy of Experts.

Mark is frequently qualified by the courts as an expert witness and has been appointed as an arbitrator and mediator. Mark is a graduate of The London School of Economics. He is author of the texts "The Litigator's Guide to Expert Witnesses" (with Mark Freiman) and of "Proving Economic Loss"

Mark is an Accredited Senior Appraiser, a Chartered Accountant, a Chartered Business Valuator, a Certified Mediator and a Certified Fraud Examiner. Mark is also a managing partner of a U.S. venture capital investment fund, a member of the investment committee of a charitable foundation and has served on the board of a U.S. public company.

Patricia's expertise in accounting, finance and securities and business valuation is applied to intellectual property valuation, complex damage cases, financial investigations for civil and criminal cases and contract disputes.

Patricia has held senior positions at IBM, The Canadian Cancer Society and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Brad Heys

Brad's expertise is in the field of economic theory, finance and econometrics. He has performed economic analysis for securities fraud cases and the valuation of pension fund portfolios. He also teaches a graduate level course in Economic Analysis of Law at the University of Toronto.

Brad previously worked for an investment advisory firm where he developed quantitative hedge strategies. Brad obtained his J.D. from the University of Toronto and an M.A. in Economics from Queen's University and has completed the course requirements for his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Toronto.

Ari Karoly

Ari's expertise is in the field of financial analysis, economic theory and corporate scenario modeling. Ari has performed economic analysis in securities fraud and other damage claim matters.

Ari obtained his M.B.A. from the Schulich School of Business, York University, where he specialized in Investment Management and International Business.

Gary L. Longman

Gary's expertise is applied to complex issues in accounting disclosure and standards and to securities fraud analysis. He advises on accounting and SEC reporting for SEC registrants and has represented clients to the SEC and its enforcement division. He has extensive experience working with Audit Committees of Boards and Directors of multi-national corporations.

Gary is a former managing partner for KPMG's Chicago Audit practice and for the Midwest Technology practice. He is a graduate of Northern Illinois University.

Federica Nazzani

Federica has extensive securities related experience in business valuation for purposes of fairness opinions, mergers and acquisitions, estate tax planning and in damage quantification for complex claims litigation. Federica has advised in a range of financings representing both equity and mezzanine.

After graduation, Federica worked in international corporate taxation and then in valuation and economic consulting with a Deloitte and Touche predecessor firm. Federica's Masters of Accountancy is from the University of Waterloo.

Deborah Pollit
Deborah Pollit

Debby has specialized experience in real estate valuation, property development and negotiation and analysis of acquisitions and joint ventures. She has quantified damages in cases of breach of contract, government procurement disputes and personal injury. She has conducted a financial forensic investigation into an international fraud.

Debby was Manager, Planning and Project Analysis with the real estate arm of Canadian Pacific. She also worked for Ernst & Young advising in the manufacturing, wholesale/distributorship, foodservice and pension fund industries.

Tara Poranganel
Tara Poranganel

Tara's background is in finance, accounting and economics. She assists clients by providing expertise in complex damage claims and tax dispute valuations.

She previously held a position in the Strategic Sourcing Group at C.B. Richard Ellis Management Services.Tara obtained her B.Comm from the University of Toronto, where she specialized in Finance and Economics, and she is currently pursuing qualification as a Chartered Business Valuator.

Carlos Rosell

Ph.D, M.A.

Carlos' expertise is in the field of economic theory with a focus in intellectual property and international economics. He has performed economic analysis in technology management, the valuation of IP, and international finance and trade.

Carlos was previously an economist at the Department of Finance in Ottawa where he worked on various matters relating to sovereign debt and national debt portfolios. He obtained his M.A. in Economics from Queen's University and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Toronto where he focused on the economics of innovation and technology.

Daniel Thornton

Ph.D., MBA, C.A.

Dan's expertise is in financial accounting (Canadian & U.S. GAAP and GAAS), financial transactions, derivative accounting, tax arbitrage and income determination. He has testified in the Tax Court of Canada, before the Canadian Senate Standing Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce, and at arbitration.

In 2000-2001, he was an Accounting Fellow at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission consulting with the Commission on matters involving derivatives, risk management and accounting rule-making.

Dan obtained his Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the Schulich School of Business at York University and his MBA and B.Sc. from the University of Western Ontario. Dan holds the Chartered Accountants Professorship at Queen's School of Business and he is a member of the Queen's Financial Economics Group.

Paul Wertheim

Ph.D., C.P.A., C.M.A., C.F.M.

Paul's expertise is in the areas of financial accounting and reporting, auditing, corporate finance, statistical analysis and capital market theory with particular reference to US GAAP and GAAS. In securities fraud litigation he has examined the GAAP implications of accounting transactions, loss causation aspects of financial disclosures and auditing issues.

Paul has both an MBA and M.S. in accounting and obtained his Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance from the University of Kansas. Paul also teaches financial accounting and advanced auditing at the Abilene Christian University, Texas.
